Canam woodnailer joists utilized for a roof system supporting solar panels

Canam’s Sunnyside plant fabricated 347 tons of woodnailer joists and girders for a roof system supporting solar panels. The facility designed with this roof system is Prologis Park PDX (Building #4), which is under construction in Portland, Oregon.
This building is a 246,000-square-foot distribution center with concrete tilt-up walls and a panelized roof system, made up of steel joists spaced at 10’ intervals. The joists support wood sub-purlins and OSB (Oriented Strand Board) deck.
The roof system for Prologis, an international owner and developer of distribution facilities, is being supplied and erected in 10-foot, prep-assembled panels by Canam customer Stellar Structures LLC of Sumner, Washington. The loading for the solar panel system was incorporated as a uniform dead load applied to the entire roof structure.
The project, managed by general contractor Sierra Construction of Woodinville, Washington, is one of the latest in a series of energy-efficient, solar-powered distribution centers built for Prologis, which has received awards for leadership in environmentally-advanced warehouse construction.
