In Delivery: Canam U.S. delivers the longest continuously fabricated trusses in its history

After months of calculating connections, complex fabrication and strategic planning, the Canam U.S. plants in Washington, MO, and Point of Rocks, MD are currently delivering the longest continuously fabricated trusses in the U.S. subsidiary's history. The immense components, which will span 268 ft. (82 m) once assembled, will be used in the expansion of the Argosy VI Riverboat Casino in Lawrenceburg, IN.

Ronnie Goodwin, traffic manager at the Washington plant, spent months planning the shipment of the components, which will require 13 deliveries to complete. The 5 bolted splice pieces must be carefully lifted by two forklifts onto the trailers, then meticulously stacked and fastened. The bolts, which measure ¾ in. (1.9 cm) in diameter and 2 to 5 in. (5.1 to 12.7 cm) long, had to be specially ordered for this project.

The Argosy VI Riverboat Casino is part of the Argosy Casino and Hotel complex in Lawrenceburg, IN, which is one of 19 gaming and racing facilities owned by Penn National Gaming, Inc. across the United States. Canam’s customer in this project is Geiger & Peters, Inc., a structural steel fabricator based in Indianapolis, IN.
