Canam U.S. contributes to a scholarship fund

The Canam U.S. plant in Point of Rocks (Maryland) recently contributed $500 to the Jim Webb Memorial Point of Rocks Ruritan Scholarship Fund. The fund, which was established by the Community Foundation of Frederick County and the Point of Rocks Ruritan Club, a group that sponsors service projects in the local community, provides post-secondary scholarships to qualifying students who are under the age of 21 and living in the Point of Rocks area.

The scholarship fund was created to honor Jim Webb, a prominent Point of Rocks citizen who worked to make his community a better place. He was both a Boy Scout leader and active at his church. “Jim always encouraged the people of his town to get an education; it was something he felt was key to being the person we all should become,” said Pepper Scotto, Secretary of the Point of Rocks Ruritan Club.
