Maryland plant employees fight cancer with sweets
This marks the second consecutive year that the Point of Rocks credit department has raised funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® foundation. This year, the department collected $250 from employees and, with Canam’s matching contribution, raised a total of $500.
Since October was Breast Awareness Month, the department started the fundraiser as a fun activity with a Halloween theme. Employees dressed up as Oompa-Loompas, fictional creatures featured in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and sold candy bars to raise funds. Thanks to the generosity and “sweet tooth” of employees, the department’s fundraising effort was a great success!
SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE®, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is a breast cancer foundation dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment and the search for a cure.
