Canam U.S. employees in Point of Rocks take part in local fundraiser

Neither rain nor mud could stop Canam employees and their families in Point of Rocks, Maryland, from taking part in the 2nd Annual Catoctin Aqueduct Benefit 10 & 5K Run-Walk that took place on Saturday, September 27, to raise money for the Catoctin Aqueduct Restoration Fund.

The Catoctin Aqueduct, located near Canam’s Point of Rocks plant, is a historic canal structure that in the early 20th century was a hub of transportation, business and culture for the region and the United States. After 50 years of neglect and repeated damage by storms and floods, the aqueduct is in need of major restoration.

The US$3.4-million restoration of this historic landmark is set to begin this winter. Point of Rocks employees contributed over $300 to the restoration fund.

The Point of Rocks employees and family members who participated in this event are: (from left, back row) Scott Osbourn, Larry Rucosky, Steve Valentine, Gene Farmer, Philip Walters, Stacey Keisling; (front row) Karen Bowlen, Amy Valentine, Gary Utterback, Erin Utterback, Diane Farmer, William Addo, Tyler Keisling, Lisa Keisling, Sophia Keisling; (kneeling) Linda Norris and Mary Levesque.
