Canam’s Jacksonville, Florida plant continues to hold the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) coveted VPP Star status for the 9th consecutive year.
The VPP recognizes employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries. Participants undergo rigorous onsite evaluations by OSHA’s safety and health professionals.
The Star Program is one of three programs that form the OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), which promote effective workplace health and safety practices. Canam Jacksonville first qualified for the Merit Program in 1999. Then, in 2003, it qualified for the Star Program, which is the highest distinction the OSHA can confer in the scope of the VPP.
OSHA is a U.S. government agency whose mission is to assure the safety and health of America’s workers by setting and enforcing standards, providing training, outreach and education, establishing partnerships, and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
